| Member | Where are you seeing this? The only way to accuratley check your Google links (in my opinion) is to do it in the Google Webmaster area. All of the checkers I have used have been miles wide of the mark.

![]() | I'm not sure about this. I just submitted my new site to a bunch of search engine's yesterday. How long will it take for it to show up? |

| Member | Can be anywhere up to three months. Although I have seen it happen in a few weeks.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Are you checking by Google Search or Google Webmaster Tools? Google doesn't like to show all links in the public arena, just a sample - you should see more in Webmaster Tools

![]() | Try to use the webmaster tools from google, there you will see the real number. If you check on your competitors all of them have thousands of links on yahoo and just a few houndreds in google. |

![]() | They have different algorithm or rules they use with regards to that matter... Google don't display much of the links while Yahoo displays large percentage of your total links... |

![]() | I have similar differences 8000 vs 150. Seems out of whack if you ask me. They should not be that far off from each other. Does Google only list high page rank links?

![]() | google didn't show all your links compare the other SEs,. google want to avoid competitors from seeing where your link came from,. Even google webmaster tool doesn't show up everything,. it just list ALMOST ALL of your links |

Don't be surprised about the discepancy. For checking the backlinks use the Yahoo siteexplorer, it would appear to include everything that it finds. Google on the other hand does not display everything it finds instead it displays a sample, updated around once every 3 months when data is exported from the data centres, it is only a snapshot in time. I have also been monitoring the Webmaster area and find that links can appear and dissappear and reappear again on this list, I dont think this is a true representation either although it's far beter than the public view. Google does not only list high page rank links, I think this used to be the case but no more, I can see a couple of links where the pages are pretty new and have no pagerank as yet.

| Member | Ya google and yahoo show different backlinks. Do one thing type link:www.yoursitename.com and then "www.yoursitename.com". You will get near same results. Last edited 02-20-2008 at 05:15 PM. |

![]() | For starters..Yahoo will show you any page it comes across that links to yours I believe (other than nofollow obviously)...Google will only show a max. of like 10-12 links per domain that is linking to you..So if you have 2k post's in this forum and have your link in the signature..yahoo will eventually show 2k backlinks..google however, will stop after like 10-12 and not show anymore.. This is why sitewide links are great for Yahoo SEO, but don't matter as much for google SEO..

![]() | Yes, and that too selectively. can be just used as an indication of what kind of backlinks google likes! |
