Is Drupal any good?

Anyhow, what do you think of Drupal - a good choice?

Is it well optimised for search engines? (i.e. Google)

OK, I'm going to try Drupal content management system (CMS); I'll let you know how I get on.

If anyone's used it before I'd appreciate any tips you might have.

Paul, sadly i have absolutly no experience concerning Drupal. The cms i am going to try in the near future is modX. OWG said that it is an excellent platform, and i also belive that it would worth a try.

Thanks anyway, Bagi - I'm experimenting with Drupal now... seems easy enough to use, but not sure how to get the design I want.

Drupal in my book is the CMS of the future, Joomla has attracted many
good designers because its easier to START with.

Drupal, if you are looking from the outside in it does not have nice cover
Not too many good template designers are involved with the system.
But things are changing slowly but surely and the developers
are trying their best to make the system easier to work for newbies.

If you pick it up it has some steep learning curve but as far as functionality is concerned it can probably do what all others can + more.

Drupal 6 which is going to be released soon (in beta testing right now)
will be offering multilanguage and multiplatform capabilities out of the box !!

Yes midlandi,
I have been struggling with Drupal for a year and 1/2
but other stuff has kept me from taking full advantage of it

Thanks Giorgo, it's good to know there's an experienced person here.

I've started on the steep learning curve... it's both interesting and frustrating at the same time. Lots of 'trial and error' at the moment, but it's starting to make sense... I've only been doing it for a couple of days.

I thought I'd start a thread here to blog my experiences for the benefit of other Drupal virgins.
