What is the best way to promote your forum?

can any way give me some tips....please......

The BEST way? Well, that's been in debate for years. Some say from directories, some say from forum sigs, some say buying traffic, some say good old fashioned SEO. They all can work if you work hard enough at it...Or perhaps do them all.

1. Forum posting (which includes signature links)
2. Submitting to directories
3. Creating interesting websites with your links
4. Buy some forum posters

Those are the best ways to promote a forum/ and of course for other websites too. ^^

You can get free posters at my site. But I don't know if that should be in the same list as website promotion or not. That's maybe more like website development or something.

Maintain activity in your forum. That is the single most important thing that you can do. Without someone there (you), your forum will die as quick as it was born. Other than that, following the same basic SEO techniques that are used on any other site is a good idea.

I have seen forum owners paying for the posting on their forums.
I think that forum shouldn't be large first time. It must be interesting.

Be dedicated yourself! The first 2/3 months are the hardest because you need to get people in that will post!

To mriror what most have already said.
Hard graft by the Forum owner.
Be lucky enough to have a good team of Mods.
Dont forget SEO and SERP basics.
Be active in other Forums.
Use stumble and digg.
Keep a good community feeling.

I think a forum just like other websites or blogs, you need content. Of course, you need niche topics or thread to attract visitors to your forum. You will need a knowledge team stand-by anytime to provide assistant when someone needed. You need a rules and regulations to keep your forum peaceful and not spamming activities. And last but not least, the so-called SEO technique. Everyone have their own formula for SEO technique. Is all depend on you.

get a few of your friends to post, then ask them to get friends.
word of mouth is worth alot IMHO

Participate in the related forum, make some link building/exchange , publish articles, work on your meta tags to fit your content.
