Best way to promote your forum

I agree, your dedicated means a lot, it's up to you to gather a team around yourself. I think every great forum was started by a group of inspired people.

what about if i don't have friends?...

, well the thing is that most of my friends they don't know nothing about pc, programming etc... so my forum is related to this subject, i have try it to bring new content on the forum, response the the posts which a few ppl did it, but still the forum is like a bit dead. that's why i have start it to add new services free for every one so maybe i can bring ppl on the site... who knows maybe in the future my forum will be alive like this one.... until then i will keep talking on other forums......i have thinking on buying forum post, but sometimes is like not worth it.....

I've never had any luck with starting forums up.. I won't "Purchase" forum posting for seeding of forums. Usually what I do is get an agreement with a forum owner to "borrow" their topics and copy their text, say one or two threads and that tends to get folks talking about that subject, but then after that thread dies I'm back to a dead forum. I've always had good success with Directories because people actually WANT their content added to them, but forums are a hard battle to fight. Sorry I'm mindlessly babbling here.

Getting on top sites (where you are ranked by votes), if you can get in a good position on one of them you genelly get a lot of hits.

I have a forum directory, and also an article directory and seem to me that ppl don't wanna use it, I have so many free services but still nothing, I still don't understand why they don't want to use it..... this is what pist me off a lot.....
but i am still working on the site so i can bring new services and increase my traffic, but takes a lot of time to do that....any way now i saw that for the last 2 months my traffic has start it to grow which is good....i was expected more traffic but i am fine whit what i got...

Once you get those few sign-ups, implement a referral program where you reward people for inviting their friends to join.

You need to have fresh content everyday, and yu will see a great amount of traffic
