These kind of links are worthless when it comes to SEO...

Although I wouldn't say "worthless", I think one needs to check the exact "value" that links have.

For example if I need to link to them to get my 50 links then the following is probably true:

1) My link to them will probably be on a page that has few other links like a blog entry or even the home page of my site. Whereas their links to me will be on a page with 100s of other links, I lose!

2) I would need to know where these 50 links will be and if they are on pages which are in Google's index.
