![]() | Hello All, Would like to know what you think of our new Backlink Checker. It is still in Beta, and we welcome your opinion. It checks your backlinks' Pagerank, Anchor, Anchor type (Text, Image or Image with Alt tag), Nofollow and Robots.txt, Broken Links and also the number of Outbound Links on the donor page (OBL). The tool is here: http://seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/link-checker/ Cheers, Jamesey. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It's a good tool, but there are a few quirks. I noticed that when I would request a domain name, if I didn't include the sub-domain, the results were unusual. For instance, I typed in officiallost.com, it returned 3 results, all of which were single letters that pointed to a page on your site that doesn't exist. Also, it would be nice if there were a way to order the entire list based off of certain criteria, like PR for instance. If I wanted to view the list with the greatest PR backlinks listed first, it would be nice if I could. When I check on the "Anchor" checkbox, nothing appears to happen. I didn't try with the other textbox's. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Very useful tool. Like jump I first tried marsguitars.co.uk - got only a couple of results. Then I retried with www.marsguitars.co.uk - I thought it wasn't working as it didn't return anything... retried a couple of times and eventually got a full set of results. The Anchor worked for me and is very useful, and the NF (nofollow) reporting is even more useful as it highlights places where I thought I had links but they're not relevant to search engines (although possibly still of value for humans!). I agree again with Jump that a "PR>x" filter would be useful, or a way of sorting results. If you could sort by any colum that would be fantastic! All in all a useful tool - nice one!

![]() ![]() ![]() | Does it deal with multiple links on page, to different pages? e.g. my sig in this forum has 3 links, all to same domain but to different pages. I think the tool only shows the first one? If would be more useful if it showed all unique links to domain (i.e. not duplicates of exactly the same target URL, but all individual URLs linked to within the domain). It would also be nice to show the actual target url - e.g. http://www.marsguitars.co.uk/electri...trings-1-c.asp But this is just a wish list... it's still a good tool even as-is.

![]() | Why, thanks enous! Quote:
Let me point out that the tool checks a PAGE for links, NOT a site... It is based on the Yahoo Site Explorer API, which also gives results for a page. I think we should change "Enter Domain" to "Enter Page URL"So if a user would put in www, he would get all links to the site which include www in the link, ie, www.mydomain.com. But if you were to just put in mydomain.com, you would get only the links pointing to that exact URL. Adding to that, if you were to put a URL like www.mydomain.com/folder, you would get only the links to that URL. Thanks for the SORT/ORDER suggestion. I had thought it wasn't possible because it displayed results on-the-fly, directly from Yahoo, but I have an idea make SORT work, and we'll see if we can implement it. Even Better idea, Mars Guitars! We will see if we make it possible to choose column to sort. Quote:
Thanks Mars Guitars! (are you a Hoodoo Gurus fan??), please see above for www., no www. explanation. Hmm, yes, it does take some time to initialize, I think we need to add some more explanaton than just "Loading...", it seems like its not doing anything for about 10-15 seconds, and then it kicks into life. ![]() Quote:
Because it only checks 1 URL, not whole site, its not possible. But I have an idea for another tool to do this which will incorporate the link checker. Thanks very much for your feedback, please keep it coming! Cheers, Jamesey. | |||

You mean, it's slow to start, or slow in general? I added a new "Estimated time" message to inform the user, so they won't think the tool has hung. As for actual operating speeds, i think it would be great if someone would do a comparison, competition, shootout...whatever, between our tool: http://seopro.com.au/free-seo-tools/link-checker/ , backlinkwatch.com and the smartpagerank.com backlink tool. (not the pagerank tool) A good test would be to measure time taken to analyse 100 links, using the same URL for all 3 tools. What do you think? Anyone like to take the tool challenge?? ![]() Jamesey.
