This might sound a bit rude.. but your site has quite many design quirks. I'll like to list them:

1. Your site header looks like an ad. Add more emphasis to it. Make the header occupy the whole width, where the rest of the width is filled by the background color of the header.

2. The theme you are using uses heavy bevel and embosses. Post-2003 era, these things don't really hold visitors. Design rules have changed a little.. keep thin anti-aliased lines for borders and fill with solid color with subtle gradients. Bevel and embosses are too loud.

3. Change the site background. Repeating tiled backgrounds is a strict no-no. Keep a fixed image.. have a look at: http://gamespot.com to see wht i mean.

4. The sidestrips again.. are made of repeating pin-stripes. This is again not accepted in the Web 2.0 design era.

Also, there is a good thing abt ur design.. you have used grey background for green text rather than the commonly used black, it is easier on the eye. Do not select a lighter gray though, it will put strain on the eye.

as for the forum.. it looks quite good and the categories and all are mentioned quite nicely. You have done a good coverage of gaming topics and zones. I would however like to see a forum for PC gaming [in the 'Platforms' section].

Also there are too many forums in the 'General Chat' area. Not only are these distracting, many of them don't pertain to gaming. Those that don't pertain to gaming should be kept to a minimum.. i say only 1 such forum is enough.
