![]() | As of Dec 13th they now offer two different tracker codes. The old one, which is supposed to be phased out in a year's time, is the Legacy Urchin tracker, and the new one called the ga.js code. Two problems. I've tried the new code and the old code in two different sites, www.jazzenthusiasts.com and http://jazzplayssussex.blogspot.com and they are not accepted. Apparently there is available a revised version of the new code which is better, but this one is not accepted either. But that's not all, as the Readers Digest says . Analytics has suddenly stopped recording data on one of my blogger sites - an important one - and I see that on another separate blogger site the data seems to be ok, but they are picking up a few keywords which can only be from the blog they've stopped recording. Has Lady Google lost her head? Or is she having a laugh? Anyone else got a problem like this? The blogger forums are not as good as this one. John ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I haven't heard of the new version of analytics..Only Urchin... I have never been a real fan of Google Analytics or Urchin, I don't find them to be very accurate, although they are relatively accurate....But not all visitors can use JS, including those that are visiting from their mobile...Although, GA does have statistics that are simply not available anywhere else... |

![]() | Cracked it - for those who are interested. I can confirm that as of Dec 13th Google Analytics want you to use their new tracker code, and will phase out urchin in a year or so. The new code does a lot more, including mobiles I think, Jumpen. I deleted the blog from their list, installed the new ga.js tracker put the site back in to analytics and everything is working fine. I think I know what the trouble was. Within the code they build your account number, but also there is a little suffix such as -12 or -15 which actually relates to the web site you are trying to monitor. Therefore if you copy and paste their code to notepad, say, for reference purposes, then you could be in trouble if you use this copied code, because it might refer to another site altogether. I think that is what I did. I feel a lot better now. Do I deserve a coffee, with two sugars? Yes, I do. John ps Analytics only picks up about 23rds of the visitors compared to the server analysis, even after allowing for crawlers.

![]() | Well, Google onl picks up 2/3rds because of a certain, wierd and annoying, system. A visitor only counts if they have been on the site or something for so long. But I do agree that Google deosnt pick up enough. Also, my golf blog hasnt gotten its Urchin in correctly, so i tried the new one, but niether of them seem to pick up traffic. Another project ![]() |
