Rank checking is for the most part, IMO, useless. The search engines have TONS of datacenters they use to show SERP's and each one gives different results.

Don't rely on just Google to bring you traffic, find other sources.

For Google, a new site have Good content is important than links.

Two Most Important Factor

1) On-Page Optimization
2) Off-page Optimization

On-page related to your site Title,Head,Body
where off-page related to link to other sites

more work on off-page

link builiding
inbound link
outbound link
reciporcal link

etc.

From my experience, it's about content and keywords you are aiming for. Have lots of them in your site and backlinks. I am sure you will move up the ranking.

I noticed while checking for certain search terms that my site gets good results from a post on the forum of my site.

The particular post got many replies and had alot of traffic and page views to it for about 2 days, then after that nothing, yet google shows it in the top10 results for that.

In saying that the content of the replies were very good and the search terms were mentioned many times and almost in every reply.

So is it the content?
Is it the amount of times the post was replied to?
Or is it the amount of page views and traffic that the particular thread received?

Thanks to all of you for giving me opinons....

I agree all of u that content is important and i should try for on-page and off-page optimization,

I have tried all of these...and uploaded the page even after changing contents but even then...no result...

well my site url is:
http://www.etrisoft.com

and kws are
offshore software development
outsourcing software development
software development consulting
software development services

I have an other site that have pr=0 and no off-page optimization but little on-page optimization, but have my required results and is always on first page against my kws.
But this site, i dont know, what to do for its improvement..
So now keeping the site and kws in view, what do you people think that what should i do....??

I don't know either, (but I'll say it once more

) ranking checking is USELESS.

Google takes 100s of factors into consideration, and there is no such thing as a "magic SERP bullet" to get to the top of Google.
