I've made a site and I am thinking of selling it.. totally as a package. It is gonna be a ONE-TIME sale only. I need to know, by current market trends, what would be the price of such a site.

the directory is password protected. The authentication details are:

username: scrabitbeta
password: hourseven

once you've entered the directory, you can register as a user, add items, vote on items etc. I request you to try out these features.

It is completely configurable i.e. new categories/genres can be added/removed via entries stored in a database. Many of it's parameters are configurable.

I did the code as well as the design. What do you think is the rightful price for this site. Please make an assesment and tell me your opinion.

are you planning to just sell the code along with its rights? or code along with the domain also? Will u be reselling the code to others as well?

1. The code will be sold along with all rights. The copyrights, the code, the names everything shall be the property of the buyer.
2. No, domain is not included.
3. No, it is a ONE-TIME sale only. One the code is sold, it becomes the sole property of it's owner and I will have no rights and/or authority over it, meaning that i obviously, can't resell it.

Looks cool, can you give more details about the site, I mean what are all those messages from orkut, sms etc? are they automatically displayed on your site?

i know that bumping isn't a good practice.. pardon me for that.. but i really need to know about how much this site could go for. I need the money a bit urgently and I don't want to sell it for a price too low. Thanks a lot for understanding.

I realize that you have put a lot of work into the site, but I just don't know if it would be understandable by very many people. I don't know that in it's current state that it would have much value. Although, it's obvious that you are a skilled coder, and with a bit of tweaking, perhaps it would be a great site. I think that you should abandon the idea of signing in to the directory and then signing up to gain functionality. A single sign in should be sufficient. Also, an explanation as to what exactly we are doing might help. I am confused as to what function the site offers. Is it just like a place to go submit snippets of information, jokes, lyrics, etc?

I think that if you can fully develope the idea, then you would have something far more valuable on your hands. As of now, it will be a hard sell. I don't know that you would get enough out of it to cover the amount of time that you have invested into it. If you could find somebody interested in such a script that is possibly looking to sell it or offer it as a free script, then you might get a few hundred dollars. I think fully developed, and with the right marketing, you could get far more than that.

ok.. now i'll be honest

I was hired to do this job. But, I was paid only $38 because the initial feature set was very small and more importantly I needed the money urgently. After doing it, I felt that I was quite underpaid. I just wanted an assessment of what an idiot I've been this far.

also.. abt the 2 sign ins.. there is only 1 sign in required.. but since it wasn't released for public then, I had to password-protect the directory.

however, the site is now live and can be accessed at:

That's too bad....$38 doesn't seem like much to do that amount of work..It's certainly not a bad deal for the website owner....

I've picked up a fair amount of PHP work from hanging around this forum. I haven't made a living, but I've gotten a bit of work...Maybe if some more serious webmasters start signing up again, you can pick up some better paying work.
