![]() | I'm hoping to develop a Customer relationship mangement system like SugarCRM hopefully geared towards a law firm or bankruptcy leads. Basically it will be for sales people to manage leads and accounts. I don't know if to simply build on SugarCRM or try using vb.net from scratch. I have a specification document available and the system might be upgraded to handle billing and bankruptcy accounts later. It's a little complex to me if I have to build from scratch and I was wondering if there are some gurus on here that can coach or perhaps join in the project. Using SugarCRM would make my life easier but may leave out many features. One advantage of using vb.net would be that it can be standalone and packaged for sale in the future but simply harder to develop. I could consider offering some basic compensation if this gets off the ground and we can get it working. Thanks for reading. |

![]() | If you are planning to do it as a standalone application then you will have to use VB.NET or something like that as SugarCRM is a web based application. So you need to first decide who your target customers will be and what their preference will be. IF maximum of your target customers can afford to use web based software then u will have to go for php and may be tweak sugar to suit your needs else u will have to build from scratch. Also, u may start a standalone application and then later in the next releases make is available online as well thru the net.

![]() | Thank for your basic input. I'm really hoping there is a billing module for sugar as it might really be needed later. |

![]() | hmm, yeah integrating a billing module into Sugar is a brilliant idea, I don't know why the sugar team has not considered this integration. I have seen their 5.0 release and they still do not have this feature.

![]() | I decided and successfully had vtiger installed for about $35, dirt cheap and has billing already. Sugar does not seem to have billing readily available. Lets just hope I can get vtiger to do what I want well enough without modifications. |
