It's pretty good. Checks backlinks and stuff. Not completely accurate, but fairly good.

Dunno if it can really be ranked out of 10...I'd give it a 7 or so...for higher ranked pages (6+), it is probably more accurate...also, the closer you get to the actual PR update, the more accurate it will be

One thing about PR prediction tools is that they're rarely right, at least in my experience.

Nothing can accurately predict PR. Somethings, some tools, can guess, but rarely are they actually right.

I don't have a lot of confidence in these pr predictors. There is another one at http://www.rustybrick.com/pagerank-prediction.php and you will probably find different results. I don't see how they could calculate the number of backlinks plus the pr of those pages and factor in the number of links on the page all in that small amount of time and if they leave any of those elements out then it wouldn't be accurate.

When is this "next update" supposed to be, and how often do they occur?

I found this today: http://www.mcdar.net/GoogleUpdateRecord.htm

It tells you the history of backlink and pr updates so you can get an idea of when the next one is due.

It seems that the pr predictor is using results from the new BigDaddy datacenter, which is supposed to become the default datacenter in Feb-March according to Matt Cutts (google engineer). I'm modifying my hosts file to get the Google toolbar to query the new datacenter for the pr value to see what shows up but I haven't gotten it to work properly. I added this line:

66.249.93.104 toolbarqueries.google.com

Anyone have any success with this?

Great find man . You have finally uncovered the mystery behind the PR predictor.

RustyBrick's is completely innacurate. I've had pages show up to be a Pagerank 10 when they have no links to them. LOL

Best I've seen is iwebtool's predication software but even with that one, i doubt it's accuracy. Only google knows what your PR will be.

On a brighter note, it's showing our directory to be a PR7 so if it's correct I'm pretty happy!
