Default Using Video

I have been thinking of adding a more dynamic aspect to our stagnant site (http://www.k9apparel.com) to amp up the products. So it would be a "info-mercial" showing our products and having video clippings of dogs actually romping in the snow or rain with it. I have been advised to use You-tube in order to conserve bandwidth.
Is this jumping on a bandwagon (as it seems that video is penetrating every website)? Are there better options to make a site more impressive? Is there a better marketing strategy?
Any thoughts, advise or inputs would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
val

Video could be something to try out
But I would not just make up a video just to have it on the site.
If there is something that cannot be promoted with simple static images then go for the video.

My advise for your website (www.k9apparel.com) is make the website look stunning without any dynamic or moving parts. I would definitely change the look of the site. It looks a little bit old fashioned to me. There are FREE web templates that are way better than what you have right now (sorry)

GiorgosK - old fashioned...man - that is our brand new website we have been working for 2 months on (lol)!!! But seriously we just launched it only 2 weeks ago. I do agree with you, the layout is not my taste...I prefer more clean lines and more white space (which it lacks). The color scheme is nothing I can do about...the owner of the company likes that color scheme. It is a remnant of the old site which allowed the company to grow in the past...so they figure to keep it the same - no point in fixing what is not broken. So I only had input in terms of placement and organization.
In terms of the video...I do think something that will show our "ACTIVE" gear for dogs will do better than just images. So we are going to have a video that would show the coat in action...
Actually if you don't mind me asking, I remember your website with the "scrolling" images. What is the html code for that or any program???
Thanks for your help and input.

sorry uhuh
I just wanted it to be honest with you ... I was not trying to put your site down .. was trying to make some constructive criticism ... I think that's the way you took it. right ?

You don't have to change the look that much but instead of spending time creating a video, I would definetelly pay someone to fix the existing template and make it a little bit shinier !!! (small subtle changes can have a big impact you know)

about my scrolling images you mean the slideshow at the http://www.myhellas4u.com website ?

the code is really javascript and in particular jquery
and can be found here http://medienfreunde.com/lab/innerfade/

Hi GiorgosK-
No need to apologize at all. I definitely appreciate your inputs and respect your opinion.
Thanks for the feedback on the slideshow - I'll look into it. Right now I'm quite restricted with time since this is our busy season, so I'm allocating all my time to SEO, making the site conducive to spending & shopping and just getting it going.
Once springs rolls around I will have more time to work on the template --- or really my webmaster will get back from vacation and help redo it!
Again THANK YOU!

I think using a video will contribute to the viral marketing factor of your website. If you do add a video, be sure to post it on Youtube and add it to your favorites.
