![]() | Hi everyone Besides my intro post this is my first so here goes. If I run backlink checker on here it shows 7 links but another check script I have tried shows more than 30 including my first directory submission (accepted obviously) Why is there a difference?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You can do it manually to find out how many each SE lists by typing in link:www.domain.com in the search bar in each search engine. Add the results together from MSN, Yahoo, and Google, and that is about the best answer you are going to get, although it isn't truly very representative of the actual links that you have. The closest idea that you can find is by using the link operator at Yahoo. You can find out more information about external links by signing up with google webmasters tools. |

![]() | jumpenjuhosaphat is right the short answer is different search engines have different crawlers that discover backlinks at different points in time .... The truth is that if a backlink is not discovered by the search engines it is worth nothing in terms of SEO so whatever backlinks each search engine reports that is what you have EFFECTIVELY.

That is a nice resource phil but unfortunatelly it shows only UP TO 1000 backlinks ... combining all the backlink checker's information would be the best bet

![]() | Unfortunatly them tools are not brilliant, non of them are entirly accurate. Thing is few links here and there dont really matter anyways when you have thousands and still need thousands more. They are good for checking once in a while to see how things are going roughly thats about it. |

![]() | Go with the manual checking buddy....just type below commands for different search engines to define your website backlinks - For Google - link:www.domainname.com For Yahoo - link:www.domainname.com For Live - +linkdomain:www.domainname.com best of luck.

![]() | this is probably the most accurate method apart from the webmaster tools area. This at least shows you exactly what the Search Engines are seeing |

Definatly the best thing to do as none of them type tools are very accurate at all, dont check to often either you will only be dissapointed, thats also a problem with them tools which make it so easy to check your on there all the time and it get so fustraighting at times when things dont seem to be going well but it is just cos your checking to often. | |

![]() | I have tried different checker software from different sites that offer it and you get a different answer at every site. It's a crazy situation and you can't let it get to you or it will drive you crazy. Make sure you have good content at your site...that's what's important.
