![]() ![]() ![]() | 1) On the rank check it gives two values, google and Alexa. Many sites have a poor google but a god Alexa or visa-versa which is the one to work on to get traffic to your site. 2) I found the top Alexa ranking is for Yahoo, then google, then msn. Is it possible to see a list say of the Top500 or so anywhere? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 1. Alexa isn't too important in this game -- It doesn't make any difference to your website. Google PageRank on the other hand makes a difference to your ranking on their search engines. I'd recommend to target for PageRank as oppose to Alexa Ranking. 2. Yep, you can find the top 500 alexa sites at alexa.com over here.

| iWEBTOOL Staff | As Kennie stated but more to add: 1) The alexa rank has to do with how much traffic that you get, and really, it is not very accurate. It gets its numbers from the people who use the Alexa Toolbar and that number gets smaller and smaller all the time. The reason that the number is getting smaller is because Alexa toolbar is only made for Internet Explorer and not for Mozilla Firefox. Since Firefox is getting so popular, their traffic numbers will not be as accurate. At one time when Internet Explorer was newer, I think IE4-5, the Alexa toolbar was included in the program hence getting very accurate numbers. But in IE6 Microsoft lost is parnership with Alexa and did not include it into their browser. This took away from their numbers. So really, be happy if you have a good Alexa ranking. But if you have a bad ranking, it really dosn't mean anything. Google PageRank is very important towards your website and judges how well your site will rank it Google searches. Lets say you have a car site and you optimize it to the search word 'Mazda'. If you are PageRank 1-4 you will list probably on the 10th page of the search results. If you are PageRank 5-10 you will list most likely on the first few pages. Remember, the higher the number the better for PageRank. The lower the number the better for Alexa ranking. 2) Yes, as Kennie has stated, you can get the top500 here Click I hope this helps you. |

| Junior Guru | Yeah, definately Google. Especially for resell or selling your sale. The first question from an experience buyer is "What's your pr of your site?" Aim for PR, Alexa is just...there. HTMLGuy
