![]() | hey guys, my server has kind of developed an error. i can not upgrade or install mods through the smf forum anymore. this is the reply the siteground people gave to me. i dont have the time and the know how to manually make the changes on my forum. whenever i install a mod through the package given in smf, my site goes down and becomes inaccessible for some time. i do not want to go back to phpbb forum as smf is way much better than phpbb. Quote: Hello, I am afraid this upgrade cannot be performed because the maximum execution time for scripts is reached before the upgrade operation completes. This is caused by an important server limitation to prevent server overloads which cannot be altered. Please try alternative upgrade methods with downloading / uploading the upgrade package and there will be no problems. Thank you for your understanding and good luck with your site. Best Regards, Anatoli D. Senior Support Team SiteGround.com can someone tell me wat the bold part means, and whether it will ever fix and how ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks for that B.....Yeah, if you can't make any changes, then there probably isn't much that anyone can do to help you other than suggesting a new host..... |

![]() | Personally I dont believe exceution time limit will be an issue. Could you show us your phpinfo() to confirm? If the execution time limit is too less, you may need to find another host. |

![]() | I tested out siteground and i believe them to be a great host, i think what your experiencing if i understand u is the mods that your trying to intall is to server intensive for a singe shared account. This is like some games we run on our comps.. if u were to check out the resource usuage in the task menu u would notice that almost 70-90% of all resources are being used for the one program. Same goes for scripts. if your having this problem with siteground then u problebly will have the same with any other host.. they cant have a single account using 20-45% constent usage of a server.. doesnt matter if u have 1k or 1GB disk usage or band.. this is when most hosts will tell u that u need a dedicated.. all of us should give praise to siteground that they monitor this as theres allot of other hosts that would just let the servers crash... |

![]() | I think that you current web hosting provider wants you to move to the higher package. By the way how long have you been on the current package.

![]() | Agree, why not ask for upgrade from a host? This is the most reasonable idea. |

Have you considered the ways of finding web hosting companies which have web hosting packages optimized for the your forum software?

Right, it works fine. Some companies even have codes for upgrading. Say ServerPoint.com offers code B35 for upgrading the shared web hosting package plans for a bigger one. You may use it and you don't need to ask the sales department about that. |
