Do multiple back links from same page increase PR?

Like the title says... If, say, I have a signature link in a forum and response several times (so that my link appears several times on the page), does that have a positive or negative effect on PR gained from that link? Or does G only count the first time a particular link on each page?

Paul, i belive that only the first link is counted, but think that you may improve the relevance of the linking page because the anchor text occures multiple time.

Thanks Bagi, that's useful to know. Presumably multiple links with different anchor text to different pages on the same site will all be counted (once)? Is there any other benefit to linking to different pages? I've heard the term 'deep linking' but not sure of the pros and cons.

Paul, if the links pointot different URLs but from the same page all of them will be counted as backlink according to my opinion. And about the deep links i think that it is the most seo usefull technique nowadays.

I was about to ramble on about somthing totally not relivent Lol, just realized what he ment. Yes Bagi your right, multiple links from an external domain is only counted once per page. However on your site if you link to the same page within your domain it increases your PR flow out of that page.

Signature link in a forum count as backlinks from Google and have a positive effect if we did not spam it or used it properly. Signature link can also help to rank keywords and drive traffic as well.
