SERPs are not that difficult, nor easy. But be aware of the following:

- Anchor text used in link building
- Number of keywords repeated in the site (do not overdo it)
- Age of the site

Incoming links are the biggest factor for Google. You need to have the anchor text (the actual text in the link) on the other websites to have your keyword phrase(s) you are trying to rank well for in the link.

Second is page title. Don't make the title to your home page the name of your company or something like "Welcome to the ABC Company Website!" That will get you nowhere. Try to keep words like "and" "to" and minor words that SE's don't use for search out of the title. Use something like a vertical bar (found above the enter key) to separate your keyword phrases. The earliest words will have the most weight.

Also, link to your pages internally using keywords or phrases that you are trying to target. For example, don't link to your home page with a text link that says "Home." If your website sells widgets, then you want your subpages to link to your home with a keyword phrase that is important, like "widgets for sale." Then link to your subpages that sell specific widgets with text that says "red widgets" or "cheap red widgets." Whichever keywords you think (better yet..know) will convert to sales well and use them.

Bam! I just doubled your traffic.

nice read!

Yes of course, it has connection by ranking of your keywords. Other than the main page , you need to optimize also the other page and target the specific keywords on that page.

My webhost allows me to create subdomains for my site ie mirrors.homecontrast.com instead of www.homecontrast.co.uk/categories/mirrors.

If I do this it will be a pain to maintain but will it increase my SERP?
