Google and Yahoo both follow the different critaria to Increase the page rank.
Google Robot increase or decrease the page rank after 3 to 5 months.

If you want to increase the page rank on google search engine then u can follow the following critaria u can see below:

1>Your site should have good pR back link.
2>You site should have xml page.
3>your site should be user friendly and informative.

PR has nothing to do with Yahoo and their SERPs.

Improve the quality of the site, make its content more appealing to visitors.

PR is still a key factor in where you rank, but it is true it is not as important as it was.
Having relevant links, i.e links form sites of the same subject is the key, that ironicaly will improve your PR too.
Don't forget adding new pages with relevant content also adds internal links and PR to your site. When analysing links you will often see sites where most links are fom internal pages.
This can only happen with unique relevant copy and a site that does not have too much code V content
