URL Differences?

Hi all,

Can anyone explain the difference between the following two URLs:

http://www.meandmycat.com & http://meandmycat.com ( Examples )

Are they the same, or two paid domains?

Most hosts will allow the option to use the domain with & without the www - it's basically the same domain. In Google Webmaster Tools you can tell Google your preferred option, they then use this as the default in Google searches but both will work when the url is directly entered.

in dns, i generally set it up this way:

A record for example.com
CNAME record for www.example.com pointed at example.com

on the web site, i have all www.example.com requests redirected by 301 to example.com

no dupe issues at all

The only difference is the www thing but they displayed same
site. I've also encountered this one. So I think there's no
problem in it.

It would be nice for you if you make the .htaccess file with the code:

Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine ON
rewritecond %{http_host} ^yourdomain.com [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [r=301,nc]
