Default Meta Tags, Page Titles & Content

Many people believe meta tags, titles and content are not as important as they really are in your overall ranking. However, I do firmly believe that these play a significant role in your positioning with the engines overall and in the long run.

The only one that's not so important is the keywords meta tag... this was previously used in SERPS but has fallen into disrepute as it was widely abused and therefore unreliable (but as resonate says, it won't hurt to populate it anyway... it just doesn't help either!)

Well a site map is always a good idea, however if you have a well organized site its not always necessary.

Dont let me confuse you - Site Maps do help get your pages indexed faster
