Default Subdomains vs. Subpages

Does anyone have any experience using subdomains vs subpages on their sites. Guess what I am wondering in plain english....
SE's see sub-pages as content related or contained within that main URL.
Do they also see subdomains in that same manner, or do they treat them as a separate entity entirely?

subdomains area separate entity sub folders carry the trust of the main domain.

for those who do not know the difference,

domain.com/folder = sub folder = same domain

domain.domain.com = sub domain = different domain no trust transfer.

I haven't feel so much hindering when i promoted new subdomains than when i did it with a brand new domain. Hence i thought so far that the subdomains inherit the trust from the main domain. Was it a mistake?

A sub domain inherits a tiny bit of trust in as much as it will mostly avoid the sandbox effect, but it is treated as a different domain.

You know what....
I looked for a "search box" and never found it.
Overlooked the link.
Just another valuable insight on consumer surfing habits I guess.
Just like RESET buttons on forms.
All should be banned.
Can't tell you how many times I clicked them by mistake, got pissed and left.

Thanks...
That was my initial thought.
Found some very good reading online about it.
Most say it is a double edge sword.

I found its usually 1/4 of the main domain. i have a domain transfered over freedns which is a public domain which now has over 500,000 subdomains it reached PR4 to which all 500,000 other subdomains increased by PR1

500,000 sub domains, please tell me they all have more than one single page on each of them, if not then you are sailing into a storm of biblical proportions
