Default DOCTYPE ISSUES.. ERORR please help.

I seem to be getting this error everytime i try and validate my xhtml.

Any advice.

DOCTYPE Override in effect!

The detected DOCTYPE Declaration "<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN""http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">" has been suppressed and the DOCTYPE for "XHTML 1.0 Strict" inserted instead, but even if no errors are shown below the document will not be Valid until you update it to reflect this new DOCTYPE.

It looks OK to me, here's the string I got from W3C site to compare with and they look the same.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

The only only thing I can initially suggest is to check the spacing in your string at
Code:
EN""http
, I cant make out if you have a space between the 2 sets of quotiation makes, or it's only how you've entered into this post.

Suggestion copy and paste the string above into your code exactly as laid out, or from W3.

Sorry not to be of more help.

Figured it out Alan. Thanks for your help.

With the Encoding option i was selecting utf-8. You must leave this as detect automatically. Same for doctype. Leave as detect automatically.

As soon as i did this the error i was getting was gone.

Might be a w3c bug.
