Seriously. I'm at a loss to understand this.

Started a blog antibarbie.net a month ago, have done nothing in terms of advertising or SEO at all. I just wanted to have fun with it. It somehow managed to get a PR of 4 during this update. Is that weird or is it just me?

I have had a similar experience, my blog which was only started a couple of months ago has gone from N/A straight to a PR2, my site which has been established for a couple of years went from a PR2 to PR3.

Congrats on your PR4, very well done

Well its strange may be will be some mistakes in calculations ..otherwise that sort if thing never happen ..

Yes Google has gone mad this time. Don't get me wrong there are the usual sites up and down bya PR point, simple readjustment, but consider some of the others YouTube.com down 5, Freewebs.com "no pagerank informatin available", dmoz down 1 (about time too). To get a PR from 0 to 4 is well done (and it looks not bad too).

you are lucky your blog has PR4. just like you do, maybe you partipated in forums and or you submit your blog in the social bookmarking and a blogrooll. i think google not only focused on backlinks but on the quality of content.
