1. How often does Yahoo update its search results?
2. Does anyone know how to get in Yahoo Directory for free?

1. I think it is once a month or once a week.
2. i don't think you can get it in for free unless you are the friend of the ceo or founder or co-presidetn of yahoo or you could make your website really good and they might add you in......good luck

Hi, please note that Yahoo has two phases of updating, one for the whole index of websites listed and the other, updating of rankings.

Both of them are important and have happened in different intervals, sometimes every month or a little longer, and about your quastion about Yahoo directory, I think if you have a non profit or educational website, you can get a free directory, of course it might take a while.

Oh, come on, I have over 200 sites listed in yahoo and have neve paid a dime to them. You get in yahoo just like any other engine. Just get some IBL's and yohoo will follow the links to your site and index it. Do not waste your money. The paid fee is for quick index and a rip-off. I regulary get sites indexed in yahoo in less than 1 week. Get a few high ranking sites to put a link on their index page to your site and it will be indexed within a week!

This is not theory, but fact!

You can go place an ad in craigslist.org and put a link to your site in the ad and the chances are that your site will be indexed within 72 hours. This site is crawled hard by all of the engines and will follow the links back to your site and index it!

But, If you feel you need to pay $300.00 you can send it to me and I will point a few links to your sites and get them indexed quick! lol. But you can do it FREE and quick with links!

I think the OP was referring to the Yahoo DIRECTORY, not the Yahoo search engine. They're not the same thing.

You can submit to foreign Yahoo Directories for free, but there is no time limit on getting included....kind of like DMOZ, but you can get a Yahoo directory listing. Search for Yahoo Asia directory, I think, and try to submit it there.

Seems to me that the spiders look often but the actual ranking change can take much longer, simular to google sandbox

yes, you can pay without an assurance also to be included, so better leave it that way, if it is SEO friendly it will be included
