Yes, forum signatures usually counted as backlinks, unless the spiders are unable to crawl the linking pages.

Once again Bagi spot on. The good thing about signature links in forums is that they build up over time, not all at once (unless you change the signature). Building links up over time is better than having a large number of backlinks added all at once.

So is changing your sig link seen as 'dodgey' by G, as it suddenly sees x hundred new links (and the same number of previous links disappear)?
Any danger of being banned or blacklisted for this???

If any sudden increase in backlinks is recognised it may be considered as a bit 'dodgey'. You will be aware that having sitewide backlinks isn't a good policy, lots of new links all coming from the same domain all at once, changing the signature COULD have a similar effect. The saving grace is that it would be very rare for the crawlers to visit every page at once, and I doubt that even the most prolific poster posts on every thread.

As for getting banned I don't think that would be likely, but from what I have read previously the links may be ignored.

Even if signature link is not counted as 'backlinks', it may be considered as a good source for traffic.

But those traffic contains visitors, not customers. If you are lucky you may find some customers as well.

Changing ur signiture is fine, and as for getting blacklisted of banned, thats not going to happen, i have created 1000s of links in one day and still never got banned, i think its just another SEO myth thats out there, so not somthing you should worry about !
