Ask.com...How to SEO?

I don't believe that ask.com uses backlinks to index sites. I think that you have to submit your site to ask. Can anyone confirm or deny this? If this is the case, how do you go about submitting to ask.com?

Also, I submitted my business to Google Earth, but I just found out tonight that MSN and Ask both have a similar service, does anyone know how to submit my business to their local business directory?

Jumpen, though i am not sure but i belive that my directory was indexed by Ask after i submitted my story into netscape social bookmark system.

Yes, blog post just like at digg.com. Some days later some pages appeared at Ask search engine.

Ask/Teoma
is a hard SE to get into as they no longer accept URL submissions any more, ususlly the best way to get indexed by ask is to submit an article to netscape as Bagi said, simply as the two SEs are connected & ask will gather your link from that website.

Your best bet is to follow the open-format Sitemaps protocol, which Ask.com supports. Once you have prepared a sitemap for your site, add the sitemap auto-discovery directive to robots.txt, or submit the sitemap file directly to Ask via the ping URL.

SITEMAP: http://www.the URL of your sitemap here.xml

The sitemap location should be the full sitemap URL. Alternatively, you can also submit your sitemap through the ping URL:

http://submissions.ask.com/ping?site...tp%3A//www.the URL of your sitemap here.xml

I've heard about using a site map for submissions, problem that I see with that is that anytime my site is updated, I would have to update my sitemap too. Unless they use the my sites site map...

I have often wondered why it takes Ask so much longer to index a site, so I have tried the above.

I agree jumpenjuhosaphat but at least it gets your site listed, im not to sure on ask i just see it as a glorified directory to be honest

I have took a quick look at stumble a couple of times in the last couple of days to figure out how to go about getting listed on it but I am well lost on that place, think I am to old for such a funky site.
