![]() | Q1, What can i do to make my site more secure? I have an ssl certificate, but do not know exactly what it does? Q2, What can I do to protect the data transfer from the user's computer to my site? Does the ssl certificate do this? Q3, I see that some of the big websites require the user to type in the wavy letters as part of their login. How much more secure is this? and should i try to find this type of secure login software? Q4, I understand that https is secure, but secure in what why? Any help would be appreciated. |

![]() | A1: If you've already purchased an SSL certificate ($200 approx? Depends where you get it from), I certainly hope you know what it does. I don't know exactly how to use it but you have to plug it in somehow to your site to encrypt data going to and from your site to the client's computer. A2: SSL Certificate when used right should do it. If you use CPanel I think it has a thing to work with SSL Certificates. A3: It prevents malicious bots from creating spam accounts, spam posts, etc. It doesn't have to be wavy, but the idea is that bots (or computers) can't read text on images. Some advanced ones can read simple images, but rarely. Good CAPTCHAs (as they're called) have lots of fancy designs, text, etc. A4: https:// indicates the use of a SSL Certificate. Generally. I'm not 100% sure on the SSL Certificate thing so maybe somebody could clarify this?
