Default Why Free Hosting?

I have noticed a rise in people seeking free hosting.
Why so when reliable hosting is now so cheap?
Most free hosting is very unreliable and if you take your website seriously then for a very small monthly fee nowadays you can get top notch hosting.

I don't want to be the smart guy, but i think the lack of experience is the answer for your question. I used free hosting service once and had to realize that the quality of the service is in direct proportion to the price.

Dont get me wrong, there is a place for free hosting, for example if you just want to "dump" a site for testing or selling.

Do you mean the level of paid and free hosting services is the same?

And still, lots of requests for free forum services? Why then? Especially with threads "My forum is dying...".

I think you are confused, this thread is about Hosting services, not Forums.

Well, sometimes free web hosting accounts are good, especially for some rarely visited web pages or a personal address.

I think this is true.

Also free hosting seems a good idea for testing and development, so the idea of free hosting is fine to get people started.

I personally like testing my websites using Free hosts while building my site up before upgrading to a pay plan. I find that this offers the best way to test for bugs, while it also helps search engines find your site sooner.

But you can get a basic US host with Cpanel (no backups or anything) for about $6, why go free?

It's better to pay little and ask the support for help if you have any issues than free and asking nobody for help.

Is your idea that a lot of forums pop up every day and mostly these are sort of amateur forums, run by people as a hobby, so why should they spend money on hosting, they go for free hosting services?
