PC magazine has listed the "colourful" information portal alongside some of the biggest names on the internet for its "top-notch articles" and space features. The magazine annually recognises the internet's Top 100 Classic Websites, dividing them up into categories such as lifestyle, money and sports. Space.com, which was praised as being one of the six best science and nature sites, has attracted millions of people since it was launched by CNN anchor Lou Dobbs and Rich Zahradnik, in July 1999. Its popularity as a news service and information centre has grown over the years – with its generic domain name making it an easily memorable and catchy site for web users to find. The PC Magazine award is not the first time the site has been honoured, having already received an Online Journalism Award for Breaking News by the Online News Association in 2003 for its coverage of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. |
