Should you pay for links?

on my linking travels alot of websites are asking you to pay to get your site listed. What do you think should we pay to be listed?

Hi

It depends on the price of the link and where it is on the site, if its in a place where no one is going to click it then in my opinion its a waste of money, there is nothing wrong with buying links, the only problem is good links tend to be expensive !

I heard google are cracking down on paid for links i.e. Banning.

it depends upon the link and what kind of link do you want to use... they say better to link in the sites that has a PR... but it's advisable to use the organic way of gaining traffic...there's a lot of site's that requires only to become reciprocal on your site...

Well you can say what ever you want but here is what I copied from my Google webmaster center. This is what Google says about it.

No that is not necessary , we will follow the some restrictions for link building from some SEO sites like,that will be more useful for u.

Many SE recommend that you should be pay for placement. I heard that SE are starting the use this as a negative factor on PR. I guess its okay to pay for directories but for link inserts

I think you must first concentrate on the content of your site so that by no means it be considered as a spam by search engines and after that, according to your budget you can decide upon as to which sites you can afford to post your link on.
