It's best to not submit to search engines.. Instead get backlinks so search engines find you on thier own.

well dont submit again n again and keep increasing yer backlinks ,i.e incoming links to your site that'll help in boosting your PR and i dont think PR matters alot in getting higher ranking on the search engines, ppl r just goin crazy for the PR !

I agree, But as for myself I have never submited a site to a search engine. I can get a site indexed in a few days with links alone.

Yes, there is no need to submit your site to any search engine. Just get backlinks.

By the way, I think Page Rank is useless. It might be a good tool to see how important Google thinks your pages are, but doesn't really go beyond that.

I'll prove it... here's a Google search for "media".

Microsoft's Windows Media Center website comes up #1 in Google. It's PR9.

My site, www.veblo.com, doesn't come in until page 2,410 or so. It's a PR4.

Find me an incident where a lower PR site is ranked higher than a higher PR site for the same query.

They might, but it's not because of their PageRank, it's because the page is good. And if the page is good, it will get a high PageRank.

So it IS because of pagenrank, eh? Look:

If A=B and B=C, then A=C. (Transitive Property of Mathematics)

(Let A equal a site's ranking. Let B equal its quality and let C equal its PageRank.)

So,

Ranking in SERPS = Quality of Page
Quality of Page = PageRank

Thus,

Ranking in SERPS = Pagerank (or is proportionate to...)
