Is this an improvement?

Hi all,

when I last asked you to review my UK guitar accessories shop, one comment was that the navigation was a bit lost.

I've tried various things, but don't want to do anything too radical as it changes the overall look too much.

What I have done is to simply add a line break between each navigation element and change the title of the box from 'Categories' to 'Products'.

Is this any better??

The site looks a little bland, maybe try and add some more interesting colors? I'm guessing you have used an os-commerce installation?

I use the same style for my store and am trying to find ways to spruce up the front end. Just need some quality time digging through the php files.

I think there is no problem with the navigation. Your site looks simple but great, but at the main page i think you divert attention from the products with the testimonals and the brand logos. If i were you i would rearrange it, since it is a bit entangled in MY opinion. The URLs are excellent but i would place this code into a .htaccess file if it is possible

Bagi, many thanks for your comments and suggestion - I don't understand your code at first look, but will do some Googling and educate myself!
I've been meaning to re-do the front page (I agree with your comments)... I have difficulty trying to think of things to put on it!

Debs - thanks... I' be interested to hear what your guitar playing son thinks of it!

It looks the same as when I last check it.

Is the word mars big in guitars then? I know it's the name of the site but I don't think it's useful to keep plugging it that way. Like in your signature, rather then 'Mars guitars' use a keyword. You'll almost definitely be top listed for 'Mars guitars' on Google etc regardless of your siggy link or Title on your site. So why not use it for something more productive?
If your top targeted keyword is Guitar stings then try 'Guitar stings' and then your second keyword on your second link etc.

YOu're quite right. I've learmt a lot in the last month... but have't applied it all yet. Changing my sig now - although 'stings' is not my chosen keyword!

Way cool, you actually used two url's as well

Your position 17 on Google for 'Guitar Capos' let's see where you are in a weeks time.

very easy to navigate which is good, but hmm.. it looks like all the other osCommerce eshops.. maybe try a different color combo?

mars guitars, just noticed 404 trapping on your site gives your home page. That will create a problem as a misspelling in a backlink will enable search engines to find the page twice as different URL's and then a duplicate page penalty will likely occur.

I didn't see your first design.

The header design of this site is nice. But you can reorganize the middle part of your site I think.

Personally I would advise you get a better OSCommerce layout as its clear at first glance that its OSCommerce (or similar) which is not what you want. Take a look at the documentation for info on making custom themes.

I think it looks great! The only thing I don't really like is the light blue color used in the mouse over - I think it is to light.
