Most of the time by having some backlinks on high PR sites, your site is going to gain a high PR, which in turn is going to help your search position. You have been misinformed. The PR of a site that links to yours has very little to do with the position you obtain in the SERP's. The PR of the sites that link to yours do in fact help to determine your site's PR, but your site's PR has little to do with your position in Google SERP's.

Ok without spending to much time teaching you about PR and what it does, I will tell you that a few of the first page bidding directories that exist rite now are only there mainly based on the fact that they have a high PR, without mentioning any names I will tell you that a few of them, mainly the highest ranking used to be totally different type of websites, and when they were switched over to bidding directories they almost instantly climbed to the top of serps. Since they did not have very many backlinks that were relevant to bidding directories then that obviously isn't the reason they are there. And they certainly did not have unique content that pulled them up, so i can assure you that it was the PR rating combined with the age of the domain, and the age of the domain is another factor in your PR.

I would not to buy any links. At this moment Google is apparently penalizing all sites which uses paid links and sell paid links. Rather concentrate on unpaid links. Funny thing is Google recommends buying link from Yahoo Directory.
