![]() | Hi Ive inherited a site that is a PR3 on most of its pages including 4 link pages. A large amount of the links are not being returned ie. Im linking to them but theyre not linking back. Does this hurt my PR? If I get rid of all the non recipricating links is my PR likely to go up? Is the PR a math formula where incoming links help boost the result and outgoing links degrade it? |

![]() | I have never heard of outgoing links hurting PR unless you have too many or too many that are not related to your site. A reciprical link could possibly damage your rep with Google. I have heard that they were cracking down on Recip links. |

Yea. Get rid of the non reciprocating links. It most likely will help a bit. My understadning it that it's a math formula. Still more useful to get more incoming links. ![]()

![]() | Well it's true, one-way link to your site are good. One way links off your site drain PR.

![]() | Yes you are absolutely correct, One way links pointing to your site from other "relevant" sites are one of the best things to have. That alone will make your site rank high and if the other sites have PR it will usually pass it on to you, depending on the site. |

![]() | Hi there The idea is to get relevant one way links if you can by having such a good site people cant help but post ur link on their blogs etc, reciprocol links are bad SEO webmasters used to use recipricol links to try to manipulate the rankings, but thats all changed now. Dont worry about PR, thats a red herring you want links that bring u visitors dont you ? rather than a high pr number which wont get you more visitors Woc |

![]() ![]() | If the sites pointing from your site are to good resources then leave them there. OUtbound linking DOES affect your ranking providing it is done properly.

![]() | One way link will not hurt your site. It is important to submit your link to related and quality site. One way linking is the most important strategy in promoting your site. |

Although PR may not bring visitorys it does bring some value to your site, especially if you are running a Web Directory. Yeah it's true that ultimately your goal should be bringing people to the site, once they are there, PR shows that your site is a valuable site according to Google. | |

![]() ![]() | 'Proper' means ensuring that you are not simply linking to home pages, 'proper' is finding high quality authoritive PAGES (not sites) to link out to. Proper is using natural anchor text. Proper is making the web what it should be which in my opinion is a collection of interlinked pages on a developing theme and fluid topics. IE just as conversations develop so would links on pages. A link on a roperty page might link to a mortgage page, which in turn might link to an insurance page, which in turn might link to a health page. ALL the links are fluid links that are relevant as they would be covered in the content of the pages . Does that explain it well enough? It is not something that can be explained in a couple of words really but I have done my best ![]()
