It really sucks that the people who cheat the system ruin it for those of us who try to do it honestly. Not only do they push legitamate sites down they also make companies like Google make it harder to get a real PR.

its certainly works for godaddy. they point their old and semi-popular domains all into the same high-pr place before selling them for a high price because it it's fake pr :p

it does work, friend of mine did it, made a couple of hundred $$ till google found out, now he cant get his site indexed on google. plus a few forums (not going to mention which ones) also banned him becuase he was selling the links through them, at the end of the day its not worth it, there are heaps of PR checkers online, just google them and you will find tons of em.

What I do is query for a pagerank. If it shows a pagerank I check google for:
info: http://www.whateversite com. If the site is using the typical fake pr script than the site they are stealing from will show in googles results.
So I just cross check.

Faking pagerank is not a good idea. It could get you banned. AND if you sell a site based on a "pagerank" of whatever and you've faked that pagerank, THAT IS FRAUD! Intentionally decieving someone for the purpose of a sale, which could bring the ftc on you.

Pagerank is not everything. I've had sites with a pr of 4 with less than 100 hits a day and sites with pr of 2 with over 2000 hits a day. Pagerank means nothing to me.

This sounds like a sure way to get banned from Google's search engine. I don't think I will even try this.

fake PR is very easy to detect.There is few hundreds of tools online to do this

There should be some kind f law placed on this act in my opinion. It is a form of fraud along with people taking money for something which is not. Obtaining with deception comes with a heavy sentence now-a-days
