I guess you should use google toolbar's PageRank > Backward Links

It uses link as link:http://www.tvbusinesslounge.com/

I know Jill well (in fact i am a founder member and moderator on her forum)

That article is out of date, and When I mentioned earlier that Google show 'A Selection of backlinks' Jill Was standing right at the side of me when Matt Cutts told us that at SES

Small world huh. Oh and of course the article you cite is over 4 years old so way out of date. If you were to ask jill about backlinks and google, I think she will tell you the same as me.

The most accurate way to get links from google (apart from my custom script

) is to register your site in webmaster tools and get data from there.

I don't have a clue as to how to get my link into any of these things, although I think I got it registered on google. and yahoo.

HI Scribblet, you don't get your site 'registered' with Google and yahoo, they index you. All you need to do is to get some backlinks (links from other sites that point to pages anywhere on your site), and you will in time be indexed by google. You don't actually 'get your link' onto any of these things, they are all just tools that query Google and yahoo and return THEIR results.

It is good that Google still update backlinks but they delay the PR updates because webmasters are craving for it.

How old is your site? Backlink updates takes time.

Not on webmaster tools it doesn't, it is the most up to date you will get.

Although it's the best you will get, it's worth noting that it still takes a few days/weesk for links to show. I'm not sure whether this is simply due to spider crawl rates or whether there is a lag in updating webmaster tools. I've found that somes the number of links changes in one big hit even though the actual links were added at a steady trickle.

But still the best a man can get.

- don't bother with other tools, 'cos as OWG says they're all getting their data from Google anyhow!

The reason for the delay in updating is probably as it uses a specific data centre, (just as the API's do), and those are always the last ones to get propagated for some reason. presumably so that search results are as fresh as possible.

On webmaster tools there is no space between "site:" and the url.
site:http://www.tracsoft.com and site: http://www.tracsoft.com (with a space) gives different results. Which one is accurate I am not sure. Can somebody experienced shed some light on this?

Backlinks are not that accurate for me. But I will find it out once I start to get traffic and increase PR. Again, PR is not that importance to me, Only Traffic is.
