Have you tried uninstalling the software, and then reinstalling it?

If you are still having problems, then perhaps it is a problem with your registry. You can try some of the registry repair softwares there are after uninstalling the program, but before reinstalling. You might need to rebuild your windows installation, but other than that, that is all the advice that I could give you, those are the steps I would take.

It should prompt you a "repair connection for msn" then you repair, and msn will repair the connection itself for you to be able to log on it.

I would do a full-manual uninstall. Search google Manual Uninstall MSN, you should find something. Then get the latest version installed.

Manual uninstall is.

Uninstall from remove software in your control panel, then go to start > my computer > (c: ) [local hard drive] > Program files > MSN messenger delete that folder, then use software called ccleaner http://www.ccleaner.com and empty your recycle trash with ccleaner, then install the new msn messenger.
