Default Good, Quality Content

What is the best way (aside from writing it yourself) to get good content for your website? Most of the content I have written myself, but it is a lot of work.

I'd like to keep costs low, and also minimize the chance that the same article is on another site.

Is there a certain strategy in getting people to write for you. I know money talks, but there has to be another way.

I'm really new to this, so any comment will help tremendously.

Thanks

Try a Review site for example..

These sites are an easy way to atract people to leave comments and there personal stories about w/e the content in about...

With things such as this its best to think outside the box

You can always google for articles and if you find good ones mail the author and ask them if you can use their work.
Alternatively as you say visit forums and ask around, some are happy to submit articles for free if they get a link back.

Good quality articles are hard to come by. You might try publishing articles from an article directory, or get an article writer.

If you have a fishing site, why not start a fishing forum yourself?

I am using PHPBB right now, but it seems to have limited functionality. Any suggestions on a nice (free) forum software?

I'm not a big fan of PHPBB. In fact, I loathe PHPBB. I prefer SMF for free forum software. You can grab yourself a copy at www.simplemachines.org

I have a rugby forum running on phpbb, and I would say that it is by FAR the most functional of all the BB scripts. the MAIN drawback is the upgrades and having to re-install the mods when you upgrade.

WHat functionality do you think is lacking? There are mods for just about any circumstance. If you are looking for a portal, then there are portal mods for phpbb. My forum is this month getting a little under 80,000 page views a day, so that is about 2.4 million a month, it is purring along. (the reason it is busy is that it is a rugby forum and the rugby world cup is on at the moment and only happens every 4 years, busiest months are normally 1.5 million pages served.)

I'm sure that it has plenty of plug-ins that will give it functionality, but out of the box, it lacks severely. For someone who might not be as bright as you or I, adding functionality to a script is like learning a new language. Above that, I just don't like the way it looks, namely the way the forum navigation menu is set up out of box, IMO, just looks plain ugly.

To get good content for your website is to write content that will attract the attention of the users, it must be unique and related to your site. It is not easy to write a good content unless you are not a good writer.

I think you're right Sheena. Unless it's unique content (and written well), it's difficult.

Thanks for your replies.
