What's the most effective way in getting traffic to a site? Is it
a) Blog Writing
b) Article Writing
c) Forum Postings
d) Paid Advertising
e) Promotional Ads
f) Link Baiting
g) Social Bookmarkings or
h) Linking to quality sites ? WHY?

Signature, spread words from mouth, business card, bumper sticker. As well make video and discuss about your website, and upload it on youtube. And as well submit your sites to several directories.

try to get on the first page of sites like digg etc, if your story reaches there, it will be spread in several websites who copy down articles from digg! this way you get traffic, and popularity!

the other methods of seo that you mentioned are also nice, and it is better to follow all the ways,

I consider posting at digg as semi-blackhat but like all blackhat techniques it works. People love to watch videos so viral marketing on youtube works. But if you intend to keep a loyal audience then write articles as though you're publishing a quality magazine. Blog writing is synonymous to article writing but blogs need to be updated and are more personalized while articles can be submitted to article directories (but can be plagiarized).

From above list, if you say about most effective -

Then, I will go with "Article Writing".

Effectiveness - Visitors can get more content to read about your product, even, you can be in SE rankings with your articles too...which will give you more traffic.

I believe paid advertising in discriminating places works also. We sell Hawaiian apparel and advertise in a very distinct magazine subscribed to by our target market. When that mag drops, we get orders immediately. Also Google Adwords is good. We get lots of sponsored ads from the content network and appear randomly in AdSense on relative sites. If you manage your keywords right, you can get it down to a very targeted audience.

I agree that if you can write some articles that are relevant and link in to your site then you can generate lots of page views. The snag is that your article has to be unique, informatice, well written and yet still relate to your site... If not then the visits you generate will have a really high bounce rate.
