Earn some real green!!!

No, not that kind of green......Reputation...

If you want your reputation to grow, then I have the perfect idea. If you rep me once, I will return the rep. My rep voting power is higher than anyone elses in the forum, so each time you rep me, you will gain 10 rep points. It doesn't matter if you have voting power or not, the point isn't to give me reps, it's to gain reps for yourself.

Why? Well, if you rep me once, you will get 10 points, but, if you want any more points, you will have to rep at least 9 other forum members before you can rep me again. Don't just rep people for stupid reasons, rep them because they deserve it....Then when you can, rep me again, and I will rep you back. That's a great way to earn some real green....And there is no limit to how many times you can rep me....Rep me all you want, the rep will be returned.

silly question - but - what is the rep system good for? We all recognize (by their "name") those who are helpful and those who are not ....even without any kind of rep system. So again, what is rep really good for?

Not trying to be contentious, I really don't understand.

The system is designed so you are able to see without having to trawl through 1,000's of users posts and replys, what sort of reputation they have in the Forum.
Its a rewards system of sorts aswell. so if you see any post that you beleive desrves a rep then dont be shy give some green

Thanks for your explanation - but it doesn't really answer my question, I don't think.

My point is, at least for "regular" readers at Iwebtool, we already KNOW who has a good "reputation" - gives good advice, for example.

Just for example, and I don't mean to single anybody out here (I could name lots of people here) - everyone knows that OldWelshGuy gives great advice.
Everyone knows that Bagi gives good advice. Everyone knows that YOU (Midlandi) give good advice. And Jumpen ... and on and on.

I don't need (or even look at) rep to know that these people are great to have around. So again, what good does the rep system really do, except perhaps for pure newbies to the forum?

I agree with you dmh, for those of us that are pretty regular on the forum, our reputation is pretty well known. However, like Bagi says, it's nice to know that you are apreciated once in a while, and I think that that is true for almost all members. Oh, and I green repped you too, so there....

gosh thanks, you two (jumpen and bagi). Other forums I belong to don't have a rep system so I'm not used to looking for it, or giving it for that matter. I'll try to be a better rep-giver in future....
