![]() | Hi my name is Carolyn I own and operate a thrift boutique in a small town and I own a computer but don't know how to set up a web site for my store. I'm looking to put my store out there as much as possable without spending a lot and that is what I have been doing by paying the local newspaper and yellow book for ads. I've been in business for 2 yrs and I'm learning that I can reach more people in my area on the internet than the local nespaper. The name of my store is Be Thrifty and that's how I need to do my advertising. If you have any ideas please let me know. thank you |

![]() ![]() | HI Carolyn, welcome. Setting up a website need not be too difficult. The trick with local marketing is to make sure your domain is easy to remeber and is plastered EVERYWHERE you come into contact with people. In your shop window, on your vehicles, in adverts on invoices, letterheads etc. Setting up the site is easy now with free software like zencart and xcart.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Welcome to the forum Carolyn. Are you wanting to take on the task of building your own site, or were you looking for someone that could do it for you? There are a lot of great tools, many of them are free, that can help you along your way if you are wanting to get it going on your own. If you are even slightly computer saavy, then you shouldn't have too many problems. You will need to learn to use web publishing software, but from what I've heard, it's not too hard to do. If you are quite computer saavy, then you might consider learning to code your own sites, but that takes up quite a bit of time. I've never used any shopping cart scripts, but from the sounds of it, that is what you need. I have seen a few great looking custom sites set up on free shopping cart scripts, so I know that it can be done. I would take OWG's suggestion and take a look at zencart and xcart and see what you can do with them. Good luck. |
