Default Why would google drop you ????

Hello All

This is a general question but im sure most will worry about this at one time or another.

I heard of sites that was doing well and then suddenly they get dropped by google and then their business is no more

So this really worries me, at the moment we have a great business selling baby products and we get about 2000 unique visitors per day 3 million page hits per month and mostly all from google, i was talking to a couple of friends the other day and said if it was not for google we would not have business and this is why im asking this question.

Why would google just drop you and is this a common thing or just unlucky if their do it to you?

As you could imagine having thousands of products in stock and being a web only business, i need to protect what i have as i would be stuff if this happen to me..

Regards

So far i experienced two major causes of the drop. The first one is the broken link (external, internal), and offline website, so check the assured uptime when you choose your provider.

Google will drop your site (not sure if you mean drop in the rankings or de-list), so I assume you mean de-list, they will drop your site for appearing to use non acceptable methods of promotion. Also you can get delisted for duplicate issues where your content is on another site. and you can get delisted as a result on server inaccessibility. There are loads of reasons really.

Yep, sorry i did mean de-list, i don't take much notice of the little green bar, its just a silly tool : )

duplicate content, so i guess if people copy my content then that's fine, as they have copied it from me and the search engines could tell that i guess.. as long as i do not steel others ( and i don't do that ).

I also do not use any blackhat tactic's so i should be fine there, but i still hear of people being de-listed or going from page one to page now where for no reason ( well that's what they say anyway ) and that does worry me a little...

Regards

PS

When you say off line website how long off line before they start to drop you ? hrs, weeks mt's ??

Duplicate content: Google is CRAP at working out who owns what online and getting your site copied could well kill you (if the person doing the copying knows what they are doing).

Site Offline: This dependent on the trust Google has in your site. a new site suddenly adding noindex nocache for example might just get dropped, while a site that has been online 4 years might not be affected. It can be on the second visit or maybe never. It is a piece of string question.
