Does XHTML Validation and CSS Validation has importance for directory?

Now days, all directory owners are very much care about the validation of XTML and CSS. Does XHTML Validation and CSS Validation has any importance for directory? Hope, all of you will post here the facts in details.

Rakib, i think that html validation is one of the signs of the maximalist owner, which may warrant a nice deal. I think that a major share of your customers could be webmasters and in this case i think you need to fulfill they requirements whatever they want. You need to know what your customers want.

When you say that all directory owners care about validation, are you talking about their own site, or sites that submit to them? I think that it's important for a directory to be validated, it shows that the directory owner knows at least a little bit about website management. As far as requiring submitted sites to validate, I haven't heard of that yet.
