why is dmoz so important?

Good point OWG....I had completely forgotten that there are thousands if not many more sites out there that scrape DMOZ for content. Of all the reasons that I could think of as to why DMOZ is so important, that is certainly the best.....Especially considering I couldn't think of a single reason myself....

No, DMOZ isn't dead, why do you ask? It suffered a heavy hit back last year and they lost a lot of data, but it isn't dead.

Hey guys really DMOZ aint that great & to be honest i believe it will be banned & wiped soon enough, it is deadly corrupt here is a bit of light reading of recent events that have been happening in dmoz http://www.joostdevalk.nl/the-dmoz-mob-strikes-again/
