Keyword Phrase Question? Am I on the right track.

Understanding that keyword research is important I find that I can come up with a pretty large list of keyword phrases for our pet urn site probably around 15 or so easy. Is it ok to optimize for all of them on the home page since they are all related.

Or is it better to optimize for maybe your top 5 keyword phrases on the homepage and then optimize the individual product pages for the others.

Any thoughts or tips?

Mary, i don't know whether you have already tested those keyphrases with the different keyword selector tools. If you haven't done so i suggest you to use this tool. If i were you i would try to optimize the main page for the top 2 KWs and try to distrubute the other phrases (which have nice searching trends) among the inner pages (product pages).

Optimizing phrases halps in the begining but after u make an authority the u can go for shorter keywords.

it better to optimize for top 3 keyword phrases on the homepage and then add 2 more keywords phrases in Home page promotion. Also optimize the individual product pages for the others simultaneously

The trick is to try and group phrases together that include the same words, but in a different order or with extras.

eg villas spain, spain villas, rental villas spain. The third phrase includes the first phrase, so optimising the third phrase will automatically do it for the first.

Hello

The first step is to know what keyword you want to use.. You can look for your competitors what are they using and how are they using it. Dont use competitive keywords, try specific/unique keywords.
Learn how your competitors are getting more traffic/good PR/good SERP and from where...

After you got the idea.. do it your style..
