I have not heard about compete yet but I think that Alexa is much better to used because it is already established.

alexa is not as good as compete, and with the passage of time, everyone will know about compete.com. Alexa ranking is of no good and no means it shows the right amuont of traffic status. Many are using this, because still yet, we get no better alternative.

I think Compete's traffic report/estimation tool is a lot more accurate than Alexa most of the time, if not all..

Compete.com is a nice site, i visit it for the first time. Still can't rate it better then alexa because it has proved to be best since long time. Also Alexa's new algorithm for ranking is no longer based on alexa toolbar which is great improvement.
So my vote goes for alexa.
