 |  Lost rankings and traffic that google indexed! would there be any effect on the rankings/traffic if ever we re-write the URL(listings) that was already indexed on Google? |

| Re: Lost rankings and traffic that google indexed! TOTALLY. google doesn't rank sites it ranks urls and IP's Changing your URL's or file structure should be avoided as much as possible. You can of course re-write 301 them, but that is not ideal and will hurt you for a couple of months.

| Re: Lost rankings and traffic that google indexed! I changed the URL structure of my directory two times, and i exoperienced some drop concerning rankings, but it is natural. If you would like place keywords into the URLs in long term it worth changing in my opinion, but don't forget the 301 redirect.

In many cases a complete rewriting of the pages might even damage a website so badly that might take a very long time to recover its pages and rankings again. Suddenly all the pages will drop and you might not have a clue when the new pages will be indexed again. |

| Re: Lost rankings and traffic that google indexed! When you change your URLs (you mean URLs, right?), you will not only experience a drop in rankings, but you will lose your hard-earned page rankings completely.
