Short URLs and Page Rank??

Does the actual url of a certain page matter for its PR?
Example:

A page is located at

PHP Code:

   http://www.drumsoloartist.com/Site/Drummers/David_Di_Censo.html

Will it improve the pages PR if I will move it to

PHP Code:

   http://www.drumsoloartist.com/David_Di_Censo.html

In other words a shorter URL (2 folders less)

And what about URLs like this:

PHP Code:

   http://www.drumsoloartist.com/Site/wiki/doku.php/drum_techniuqes/basic/bass_drum_pedal

will it improve the PR if moved to:

PHP Code:

   http://www.drumsoloartist.com/bass_drum_pedal

only links effect pr.

yes, links do affect pr but pr isn't everything. The footprint of your site in terms of key word / meta title marketing can get you
better serps than a site with a higher pr than yours

we amended url's on our site earlier this year to make it easier for Google search engine spiders to read / index. However in doing this we have had to go through a period of Google re-indexing which has set us back. Hopefully the revised url's will work well for us in the future. I suggest you look at other high performing sites and compare their coding. If you change your url's you will loose returning visitors who have your current url in their favouries

We know that title/description are very important for seo, presumably the url is as well.

But how important is it, would it be more important than, say, the main header of the page, or would it be of minor significance?

I ask because I think I've got the wrong url for a new site and I could change it without penalty, now.

It has no effect to PR... Links, links links...and quality links only affect PR...

URL size will not effect your PR as long as it is SEF URL ..

using urls near the main domain will effect your serp

Hi there

It wont make any difference and why should it ? the url just has different letters, your worrying about somthing that you dont need to worry about.

The length of URl and position in the site doesn't matter as you can channel PR to any page you like.

It is the NAVIGATION structure that affects how PR flows through your site and what pages end up with what PR from internal transference. PLUS inbound links of course.
