Just a clarification. Google DOES care about new content, but mainly as a reason to come back and spider. It DOES like to see new content on a site also, but it is NOT absolutely necessary .

I know you said that the biggest site does not rank at the top. BUT think about what you said. It does not rank at the top FOR ONE PHRASE. bet it ranks well for others. Here is a list of referrals for one hour from today to the Florida site. Ignore the numbers, I have taken most of them away, but this is taken from a bespoke script I have had written that grabs data for me Look at that list and tell me if the owners of big sites give a damn about 'ONE PHRASE'
